I wanted to share something that I really think is exciting! My dear friend Maren is teaching art in her art studio!!! Let me just tell you that Maren is the “Bomb-diggity” ! I LOVE her and your kids will too … she is real, passionate and a real mom of three little ones under the age of 6 … so seriously … she gets it, if you love art and want your kids to learn from someone who is not only a real artist but also formally trained and educated to teach art … your kids are going to LOVE her! Both Mason and Isabel are gonna be there for sure!

Here is the 411 ..

Mission Statement:
Students will receive a comprehensive art education relevant to our current place in history (We are in the Post Post Modern Art Movement – which contains movements such as Relational Art & Stuckism ) including Art History (Artists, Art Movements, Historical Framework & Overall Impact), Technical Training (Artistic Skill Development, Brush Work, Sculptural & Water Color Techniques & Two Dimensional Perspective), & Concept (After the invention of the camera, the role of the artist moved beyond being that of a visual documentation of the time, hence the “Artist Statement” and Conceptual Art genre were born). This will be done in conjunction with completing finished, framed projects.
The fundamental approach to this class moves beyond the typical “Experience” based art programs offered in abundance around town. This class is based upon the success of completing show-worthy art at every age level. The opportunity to experiment with paint and clay in an unguided self expression is amazing and can be compared to the opportunity to experiment on a piano with out taki ng lessons. This class will teach them how to “read the notes” of art in conjunction with free expression.
Most importantly, the objective of this class is to build self confidence in the Artistic field and a life-time love and understanding of Art. This class will give students the opportunity to “Wow” their parents and themselves by what they are able to produce, understand & recognize in their own art, in museums, and in galleries. Currently, in every modern country other than Japan, 90% of people have abandoned their artistic endeavors (such as drawing, sculpting, etc) by puberty. My goal is to offer children the tools essential for growing the confidence and passion needed to give them a life long positive outlet for self expression and wonderment.
