I snapped this photo while on assignment for Maren at her art studio and it really meant so much to me. Crazy how as artists sometimes we get caught up in the way we think others see our work or what others are doing that we sometimes forget that what makes us an artist or what makes the people who admire our work or hire us is just that … us … or YOU. I’ve really been doing lots of thinking about this lately because it makes me sad when people feel like they have to be one thing or another instead of being the artist that is within them … who cares what everyone else is doing … be YOU. that is why people love you and your work. It’s why people are drawn to you. YOU are unique … a one of a kind …. that is what makes YOU the special and unique person you are …
I have this friend who once said … I never look back … once it’s done … it’s done. I remember that profoundly defining our friendship because I always reflect and memories are so on the forefront in my life, whether it be from when I was a child or from last week when had those tasty muffins for breakfast. I couldn’t even imagine closing the book on something once it is done or in the past … although I’m all for moving forward! There are things better left alone … and I’m pretty good at knowing the difference. So this weekend I was working on a project that had me going through a wedding from last year and I was struck by these images … I saw them with fresh eyes and I wanted to share them … I’m a sucker for shoes … LOVE SHOES! If it was appropriate, that is where I would spend most of my extra dollars .. psst … don’t tell Tony … well, shoes or that beach house that I dream of! Anyway, I just wanted to share them … I’m in love with this little frog too. Living at home, my mom used to collect frogs … whenever we would go on a trip or get her something special it was always a frog … when I moved out, I vowed, I will not have a frog in the house (not dissing you mom, I love that you love ‘em) … but this little guy, if I could find him … I would totally buy him!! I recently bought a crown just like the one he is wearing and I LOVE it … I’ll share that soon!
